So.. the current upstream kernel was easily installed and the system
still runs fine but though running kernel 2.6.34-999 now, sadly the USB
microscope camera Traveler SU 1071 (ipassion iP2936 1b3b:2936) is still
not recognized.

These packages were installed with "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" to test the upstream kernel:
 linux-headers-2.6.34-999_2.6.34-999.201004301209_all.deb
 linux-headers-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201004301209_amd64.deb
 linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201004301209_amd64.deb

The system was rebooted with the new kernel without any glitches.

When the microscope is connected to a USB port, "dmesg" shows this line only:
 [  142.660039] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2

There is no /dev/video* file created.
