I would like to add that I see the exact same problem on an HP TX2000
which also has the Radeon HD3200 graphics.  The fan runs constantly and
the battery life is terrible compared to karmic. I am about to try
switching to the commercial driver, but agree with the posts above...the
OS driver is better! However, I cannot live with this battery life....
