I found a straightforward workaround by replacing the Xserver GLX
library with the Nvidia one:

cd /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions
sudo libglx.so libglx.so.original
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/nvidia-current/xorg/libglx.so libglx.so
