Public bug reported:
While 2.6.31-21 booted just fine (with exactly the same arguments etc)
2.6.32-21 froze every time, usually after starting Busybox but before offering a rescue shell.
It has been cured by moving the rootfs line to the very top of /etc/fstab
(I had previously sorted my many test drives and partitions in physical order, / = /dev/sdb5, ext4)
Among the many messages briefly (another bug) visible at boot, was "slow mounting, try bootdelay".
Others were "failed to mount dev on /root/dev" (also proc and sys) which is perhaps mistyped?
In this event, surely, a total lockup should not occur and constitutes a bug.
Also, the kernel boot messages could be designed to be more informative.
