[Bug 574168] [NEW] No sound since upgrading to 9.10.

I'm running Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 1420. When I upgraded to 9.10, my
sound completely disappeared. Tried several fixes suggested on the
Ubuntu forums, but nothing worked. I just upgraded to 10.04 and I still
have no sound at all.
