Hi Jeremy,

As stated in the initial bugreport, I have found the issue resolved in 
the mainline kernel from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.33.3-lucid/
specifically: linux-image-2.6.33-02063303-generic_2.6.33-02063303_amd64.deb

This was the suspected result, since support for ALC892 was only added
to the linux kernel in 2.6.33, see:
http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_2_6_33
