I just want to say: I'm with you guys. Sony vaio vgn-fw11er, ATI radeon
3470, with open drive, brightness works only by applet on the panel, but
not by hot keys Fn+F5/F6. With ATI fglrx nothing is changed by keys and
by applet, and compiz works bad slowly.
