When I read this earlier, it seemed like just a performance issue. On
closer inspection, this will cause the server to potentially get to a
giant retransmit timeout that the client can ignore? I.e. client will
ack at every doubling of the server's timeout, keeping those sockets
alive? Do you have a way to test this that you can share?
