[Bug 471871] Re: [Dell Computer Corporation Inspiron 600m] suspend/resume failure

I've also just upgraded to Lucid, only to find this Suspend/resume problem
recur. This most recently suggested solution (to set GRUB to nomodeset)
does solve the Suspend problem. But it also results in a significant drop
in video quality. For example, Compiz becomes pretty unmanageable. And I
could play Penumbra without nomodeset on 10.04, but with nomodeset I cannot.

So I have to choose between functional Suspend/Resume and decent video card
functionality. Not good.

I'm a total noob, obviously, but the "nomodeset" command results in an older
video driver being used, yes? Well, with my video card, KMS was just added
in Lucid. So, perhaps it (or the new driver generally) is causing the
suspend problem?

My info:
Dell Inspiron 600m
Lucid 10.04 (freshly upgraded)
Kernel Linux 2.6.32-22-generic
Gnome 2.30.0
1 GB RAM
Intel M 2 GHz
Video card: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev
02)

Thanks again, community.
