There are currently two fixes that work: 
Ricardo Salvetri's patched kernel

or:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.33.3-lucid/

Both work for me on my Asus EEE 1000 PC. I have the 2.6.33.3 kernel
installed.
