lsscsi seems to find the drive though:
The first (WD) drive is a WD MyBook World 2TB configured as RAID1.
The second one, I suppose, is the WD MyBook 1TB FW_only_, which is a single disk model, fully encrypted at the partition level.
I'll probably dismantle the device and attach the driver to internal
sata in order to avoid falling back to Karmic, which I "ran over" with
the clean install.
