I also see this. Thinkpad T60, radeon X1300.

When I disable radeon KMS I get stronger wireless signals and am able to
connect to networks I could not previously (network manager reports 88%
connection strength when previously I would get 1 bar and then the
connection would be lost)

Sure would be nice to have this fixed :)
