I've been having this problem in my Lucid alpha and beta installation
which I have gradually upgraded from Karmic, and it's still present
after upgrading to Lucid Lynx final. However, on a freshly installed
Lucid Lynx final version, on the same machine, sound works OK in KDE. I
can only conclude that somehow in the upgrade process something was
broken, causing this problem.
