Same here, I had a fully working 09.10 Karmic Koala and after having upgraded to 10.04 I lost both "recovery mode startup" and tty1 to tty6. In both instances the screen is flickering and unreadable. After applying #3 procedure the screen becomes steady and garbled but still unreadable, however it seems that I can BLINDLY type in commands with a supposed QWERTY keyboard (mine is AZERTY).
One question : what does mean "Should anyone else run into this, the fix^H^H^Hworkaround is to add "intelfb.blacklist=1" to the installer's command line." ?
