Just tested with the daily upstream kernel build 2.6.34-999-generic:

linux-headers-2.6.34-999_2.6.34-999.201005181210_all.deb
linux-headers-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201005181210_amd64.deb
linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201005181210_amd64.deb

The result is the same offcenter displacement.  Could it be possible,
that this is more grub2 rather than linux kernel related issue?  I would
be happy to continue testing scenarios and software combinations, if
anyone can think of something else to try...
