I have this problem on my Thinkpad T42. Same symptoms as #1: on suspend, the screen goes black and I get a flashing
moon, but it keeps flashing, and the fan keeps running. Also like #1, on next powerup, network manager has network disabled,
though it comes up normally if I enable networking from the icon. Like #3, this is sporadic. It may not happen for a half dozen boots, and then starts.
Suspend certainly worked in Karmic and Jaunty. I tried updating the BIOS to the lenovo latest for T42, but there's
no (discernable) change in behavior.
I just tried the upstream kernel: linux-image-2.6.34-999-generic_2.6.34-999.201005201005_i386.deb
It boots, but on suspend the moon flashes a few times, then there's a second beep, the fan speeds up,
and the screen stays dark. At this point, Alt-SysRq-B was required to reboot the system.
