Same issue on my end using 10.04 @ 64bit:

user at ubuntu:~$ toshset
required kernel toshiba support not enabled.
user at ubuntu:~$ sudo modprobe toshiba_acpi
FATAL: Error inserting toshiba_acpi (/lib/modules/2.6.32-22-generic/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/toshiba_acpi.ko): No such device
