Could that be the touchpad malfunctioning and sending left click event (and forgetting to clear the bit)?
Does it happen when touchpad is turned off?

BTW, i am on Lucid, x86-64 / AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint and just
experienced this bug.
