It has to do with Bug #544884.

A different issue should report:
1. Invokation of "suspend" using hotkey XF86Sleep fails, it just turns the screen off.
2. Closing lid is not obeying "energy preferences". For instance, it does nothing when it is configured to turn the screen off.
