DMESG log shows a diff between normal and abnormal suspend/resume
attempts -

I also experience this problem and have noticed that the first
suspend/resume which is normal has IRQ Breaking affinity messages but
the subsequent failed suspend/resume attempts do not have the IRQ
affinity messages either on my machine or on the log this reporter has
attached.

The messages I am referring to in Chris Wilcox attached dmesg log above
are:

[ 584.585150] Breaking affinity for irq 12
[ 584.585167] Breaking affinity for irq 20

These messages only appear during the first and only normal suspend/resume after system boot.
Subsequent failed suspend/resume attempts do not include the above messages.
