[Bug 585525] [NEW] multiple bad sectors since lucid install

since i've installed lucid, when the system is booting up, between the
splash screen and the desktop screen i get multiple lines of i/0 errors.

gnome-disk-utility is reporting multiple bad sectors on my hard drive.
gnome-disk-utility does not populate upon start-up. must wait at least
15 minutes after start-up before gnome-disk-utility will populate and is
functional.

gsmartcontrol shows NO errors on hard drive.

i did NOT experience these issues in jaunty or karmic. not until i
upgraded to lucid did the errors occur.
