I am running compiz with 195 series nvidia driver as well on an nvidia
Quadro 3800. My AMD64 system with 16GB RAM slows to a crawl after two
days of use if compiz is enabled. Screen refreshes on Worskspace changes
take 3-5 seconds to redraw. Mouse clicks take 3-5 seconds to be
recognized.

All these problems went away after I disabled Visual Effects. Now my
machine runs days on end without any slow downs
