I have the same problem in the same motherboard, the only way I found to
solve this problem is turning off the sound from motherboard..

I'm using 10.04 and have D945GCLF motherboard, at 9.10 did not have that
problem.

I've installed ubuntu 9.10 but but I started with a hard disk failure,
then upgrade to 10.04 (expected "spurious response"solved with the new
kernel) now I have no sound and I have the same problem with the hard
disk.
