[Bug 588053] [NEW] kernal 2.6.32-22-generic-pae freezes 2 seconds into bootup

Public bug reported:

on 4GB RAM + 1GB VRAM machine:
Windoze7 64 bit boots.
2.6.32-22-generic boots fine.
2.6.32-22-generic-pae freezes about 2 seconds after hitting <enter> from the grub menu. 
Disk activity stops.
The CapsLock LED blinks until you turn the machine off.

Possibility: 
This might be a grub defect.
When the previous boot was 2.6.32-22-generic, that becomes the default option for the next boot. 
On power up, if you let grub timeout or just hit enter, booting freezes after about 3 seconds.
On power up, If you move the grub cursor down and then up or up and then down back to 2.6.32-22-generic, it boots fine.
This wiggling doesn't work to boot 2.6.32-22-generic-pae
