I have the same problem with lucid lynx
goes perfectly to suspend, but on resume system freezes: 
caps lock dont work, screen is black without backlight, hdd starts spinning

tried most of the kernel boot options:
nomodeset, radeon.modeset=0, vga=0, noapic

i have the latest mainline kernel, 2.6.34-996

i have tried s2ram also, no success


it only worked with minmal boot config (init=/bin/bash)

seems for me a problem with kernel and / or graphics card (ati radeon
x200m)
