Public bug reported:
My current 10.10 booted properly some days ago - after current kernel
updates the system hangs in text mode. Last message during bootup is:
[ 61.540294] fb: conflicting fb hw usage radeondrmfb vs VESA VGA -
removing generic driver
With this message the hard drives are running constantly.
If I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete the system switches to the graphical console
(gdm) after 5 seconds without any hazzle.
The relevant portion of dmesg is:

Yesterday the same happened, but a saw a plymouth error message instead,
that is not present right now. After having upgraded to 10.10 the
graphical bootup logo disappeared at all.
I'm not sure if the issue is due to another package, hopefully ubuntu-
bug attached useful information to confirm the issue.
