[Bug 656558] [NEW] Kernel panic on boot: cannot mount roof fs

Public bug reported:

I received a system update on 2010-10-06 which provided a new version of
the kernel (2.6.32-25)  Booting with this kernel causes a kernel panic
stating (from memory) VFS: cannot mount root fs on (0,0)

Output as follows from list below (I could not report this with ubuntu-
bug due to that software requiring PulseAudio installation that I have
removed so my audio would work properly.)

1) uname: Linux eden 2.6.32-24-generic-pae #43-Ubuntu SMP Thu Sep 16 15:30:27 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
2) /proc/version_signature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-24.43-generic-pae 2.6.32.15+drm33.5
