[Bug 665986] [NEW] No audio heard ubuntu-10.04 reinstall

Because of loss of boot capability in trying to get my audio to be heard
(installed and de-installed a number of audio programs with ubuntu
software center - I ended up re-installing ubuntu-10.04 and to date have
not been able to hear anything with the system Administration-system
testing or with going through the Comprehensive Sound Problem Solutions
Guide v0.5e.  Is this a known bug?
