Unfortunately, disabling CONFIG_CFG_DEFAULT_PS does not solve the
problem for me (also on gentoo, using gentoo-sources-2.6.35-r5).

I'm also on a mixed-mode wireless router (802.11bgn), which can not be
set to g-only.
