Public bug reported:
following an upgrade to meerkat and using the new kernel linux-
image-2.6.35-19-generic, the r8192se_pci module seems to be causing the
system to become very slow occasionally.
removing the module makes the system return to normal.
When the system is slow, based on top the load average tends to be
between 3 and 10 with no obvious process using the cpu.
It may be related to whether or not the batteries are being used as I
have only noticed it when running on battery, but I am not 100% certain
on this.
I did not seem to have this problem in lucid and when running the linux-
image-2.6.32-24-generic in meerkat, the problem does not seem to occur.
