Tried what was shown in post:

I could load grub and load a previous kernel but after running the comands (2.6.32-24-generic
 or 2.6.32-23-generic) it still comes up with the same bootup problem. 

Seems there is no need for liveCD as I do have previous kernels...? 
I'll wait for an update.
