In spite of dire warnings about kernel problems on the CD live, install
went on to complete successfully.  IBM Thinkpad R31 1 gHz Celeron i830
video graphics running KMS+fbdevhw and shadow framebuffer.

New install booted after recovering from two kernel crashes.  Apport
said the crash logs were damaged and could not process them.  I'll
attach the first crash log
