I have the same problem and it is not a mix up as my message reads
"modprobe: Fatal: Could not load
/lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/modules.dep:  no such file or directory".
Note the message includes "generic" which is not included in the
original bug report (I suspect due to an oversight versus the message
being different.)
