I am having same problem. I upgraded from Hardy Heron to Lucid Lynx.

Thinkpad T60
ATI Mobility Radio X1300
Kernel: 2.6.32-24-generic

Using the open driver and laptops gets hot very quickly. Hovers around
75-80C and fan is at full speed. Occasionally the laptop just shuts
down. Not good. :(

Unfortunately, AMD stopped supporting the driver for this card. The
Catalyst 9.3 driver does not support this kernel version. And the fglrx
driver in the repository does not support this card either.

aticonfig returns :No supported adapters detected.

So, I am stuck with the open source driver unless someone has a
suggestion that I haven't tried.. Need help on this urgently..
