[Bug 651019] [NEW] long startup (60 seconds +) from gdm to desktop

Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Maverick it now takes a minute or more to get to a usable desktop after signing in at gdm.
This is much worse than it was in Lucid.
Please advise how I can debug.
