I am not able to reproduce this:

chuck at homer:~/work/ubuntu/kernel/local/ubuntu/2.6.10/25$ sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
chuck at homer:~/work/ubuntu/kernel/local/ubuntu/2.6.10/25$ lsmod | grep ndis
ndiswrapper           126452  0

And in dmesg:

chuck at homer:~/work/ubuntu/kernel/local/ubuntu/2.6.10/25$ dmesg | grep ndis
ndiswrapper version 1.0rc2 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
