Summary: Array 6 Install CD AND Live CD fails to boot
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P1
Component: linux
AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: mattisking at pobox.com
QAContact: kernel-team at lists.ubuntu.com
I've had problems on and off with various Array releases. However,
in general, the Live CD's have been largely successful on my PC...
intil this one. I'm uncertain how to report my problem. I've verified
the md5 and the CD but this one will not boot. I'm running the latest
Hoary from the previous array release (+ updates). It gets to the
"press enter" screen at the beginning, then starts it's boot process,
gets to:
SCSI device sda: 66835440 512-byte hdwr sectors (34220 MB)
SCSI device sda: drive cache: write back
SCSI device sda: 66835440 512-byte hdwr sectors (34220 MB)
SCSI device sda: drive cache: write back
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1 p2 < p5 >
Attached scsi disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
and then it just sits there.... and never progresses any further.
I have now verified this with BOTH the Install and LiveCD. I get to the initial
Ubuntu screen (press enter to boot). Per Matt Zimmerman, I tried these options
also with no difference:
live noacpi
live pci=noacpi
live acpi=off
I should mention here that all previous Array releases (Live and Install) have
all worked to some degree for me (some x-org problems in the past). I'm also
running a current snapshot of Hoary without any problems on this same PC (using
daily apt updates).
The PC is an old Dell Dimension. It's a P4 Celeron 1.4 with 512 MB RAM, a DVD
Drive, CD Writer, ATI Radeon 7500, typical sound card (older)...
Yeah, it's my secondary PC. Ubuntu has never worked on my primary PC (it boots
from the CD but then can't find it during installation but that's a whole
separate problem).
