Summary: 8139too doesn't resume properly
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: linux
AssignedTo: fabbione at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: iamniran at gmail.com
QAContact: kernel-team at lists.ubuntu.com
CC: mjg59 at codon.org.uk
With the stock /etc/acpi/prepare.sh script, the driver doesn't come back up at
all, and produces this in dmesg:
8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.27
8139too: 0000:00:07.0: Chip not responding, ignoring board
8139too: probe of 0000:00:07.0 failed with error -5
After appending "modprobe 8139too" to the end of the script to keep the module
inserted during suspend, the driver comes back up and its eth0 interface is
present. However, the interface cannot get an IP address and produces no visible
activity in the system monitor Gnome applet. This is repeated several times in
the dmesg output:
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
eth0: Transmit timeout, status ff ffff ffff media ff.
eth0: Tx queue start entry 4 dirty entry 0.
eth0: Tx descriptor 0 is ffffffff. (queue head)
eth0: Tx descriptor 1 is ffffffff.
eth0: Tx descriptor 2 is ffffffff.
eth0: Tx descriptor 3 is ffffffff.
eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0xFFFF
