[PATCH][FEISTY] 1/1 Fix VMI lazy mode race (again)

Turns out the fix for the race had the same race.  We have seen this 
show up as occasional hangs during both UP and SMP installs and in long 
running guests.

Gutsy does not have the issue; this patch is recommended to be added to 
the next Feisty kernel update.
