Missing SND_HDA_INTEL in Gutsy

Is there a reason that SND_HDA_INTEL is not enabled for Gutsy? I turned
it on in the i386 configs, but historically (for Feisty at least) it has
been enabled for other platforms. I also added the Sigmatel quirk
structure to enable Dell 1420 audio.
