Hey folks.
I'm aware that you like to track kernel upstream as closely as possible, and I'm also aware that alsa drivers 1.0.16 are in kernel 2.6.26. However, I am pondering pushing alsa 1.0.17 into Intrepid, which will require updating the drivers in the kernel. As you may be aware, for hardy, we managed to mismatch alsa components to the point where things are somewhat broken for many users. When these users made use of alsa-lib 1.0.16, to match the kernel drivers, things resolved themselves.
Since I am not eager to repeat that experience, the first step is to get the kernel code updated, before userspace can follow. The URL for the alsa upstream git trees are below. If needed I can supply tags/hashes for commits between 1.0.16 and 1.0.17.

Looking forwrad to hearing from you WRT this matter.
Luke
