Hey everyone, let me introduce myself. Briefly, my name is Kevin DuBois
(about page <http://kdubois.net/?page_id=2>), 4th year Computer
Engineering student at the University of Michigan. I understand how
kernels work, and have been tinkering with them for a while (ie about a
year), but have never really done any "useful" work with them so to
speak, and would like to change that by helping out this team. I've been
around open source projects before, and have done some work with Compiz
(a few animations) and FFmpeg (audio work mostly).
I've found that with getting involved with open source projects, there's
an introductory phase I like think of as "the idiot phase", where your
efforts are a bit undirected (and sometimes not even useful), and thats
pretty much where I am now. My cursory goal is to help out with one bug
a day, and do more as my confidence in what I'm doing increases. Feel
free to let me know if what I'm doing is stupid, constructive criticism
is usually how I learn best.
I've always liked "flipping bits" and a good challenge, and hope I can
help out. I got some useful pointers today in #ubuntu-kernel, and if
anyone has more, they are welcome to share.
Cheers,
Kevin DuBois
