Subject: [PATCH] patches to sync hardy-lum lpia branch

The following patches have been applied to the
mid-tem/hardy-lum-netbook
tree, and I'd like to bring them into the lpia branch of the
distro
hardy-lum repo.

This is a resend, since I didn't get acks. I got a couple of
comments along the line of "I suppose it's low risk since
it's in a separate branch". If that's sufficient
justification, then I need to get these in..

These are proposed for the lpia branch of the hardy-lum
distro tree.
