Fedora 12 graphics issues

It's interesting to look at some of the issues that Fedora is having with graphics -
there's a huge thread titled

While it looks like a lot of their issues are still due to the proprietary nvidia
driver, another thing that I take away from this is that 3d support is slim and
somewhat broken in nouveau and because of that compositing is disabled in F12
(possibly only for KDE, I'm unsure from the context):
