Given the long standing nature of this bug, positive test feedback, and
a 1.5yr effort to get this patch upstream, I've gone ahead and
cherry-picked and applied this to Oneiric master-next.  I munged the
commit message to include the BugLink.  Kamal, I also took the liberty
to add your SOB.
