Ubuntu 11.04 and gitk problem

Hi, all.

I try to run gitk from command line.

Steps to reproduce:
1. git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git
2. cd linux-2.6
3. gitk

I can not run it. That kills my system (2GB RAM) and Unity as well.
Any ideeas ?
