Actually it looks like this patch may have already applied to oneiric
per bug 897514[1]. The patch is the following commit in oneiric:
f4a04c4518110f63a402e53988b0143046b66750
So it appears the patch is in 3.0.0-15.24, which is still in
oneiric-proposed. I imagine I can request that the bug reporters test
oneiric-proposed and see if the issue is resolved.
