Boot failure in 3.0.0-20-generic-pae

I reported a boot failure since after 3.3-rc3 to the LKML (Probably 
mostly relevant from 
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1205.0/01349.html ).

Attempting to boot the 3.0.0-20-generic-pae kernel fails as well, now, 
though, so I wonder if the commit I report above was somehow backported 
recently.

I have ordered a display for this hitherto headless machine and will 
report back, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up, since an unmodified 
(by me) Ubuntu kernel now seems to fail.
