[Quantal] pull-request: more i915 backlight control fixes

These i915 backlight patches (cherry-picked from upstream v3.6-rc1)
fix regressions reported upstream against some of the i915 backlight
patches we just applied to quantal for this bug:

I have only smoke-tested these two patches briefly, but they look
reasonable and appropriate.

Please consider applying these to Quantal.
