-rc4 does not build due to a bug in the upstream source itself leading
to the FTBFS you see.  I believe they have fixed it in later releases,
and -rc5 should build.

These are debugging builds to find and catch such failures; they are
not manual builds as such and so build using whatever upstream produces.
